Beauty Check List for Christmas and Summer - Your Questions Answered...

Q: HELP!! It’s the social season and I need to be ready, all the time, all day and all night. What will make things easier for myself?

First of all, take care of skin, nails, and body grooming with a standing monthly appointment by booking ahead so there’s no last minute panic. This is a great time to plan your 2011 skin maintenance with an Images Turn Back Time Program. Choose monthly Grooming maintenance like nails, wax and tints, or de-stress time out with an Interlude Package – 12 hours over 12 months, includes a monthly facial or massage for a year! Select what you need most.
Step 1 : FaceQ: My face needs some TLC after winter – where do I start?

Monthly facials to correct, restore, hydrate and renew, work! Omnilux Revive light is the best facial of all. You will be growing new skin cells and collagen, every time. Best result is our Dramatic Results Duo – micro or peel with Omni light.
Q: I’ve used the same skin products for a long time which don’t seem to help now. Can you help?

Through out life, women change all the time! Skin changes with the seasons and hormone balance, so the skincare you use at home needs to be adjusted with those changing needs. A diagnostic skin scan and your therapist’s expertise will match skincare that corrects and restores skin health. 70 % of skin health result, is what you do and use at home. It will keep your facial active every day. Acne, fine lines, uneven texture and pigment will diminish as skin becomes PH balanced and behaves normal, as it should.
Q: I’m outside alot with my job and hobbies. My IPL treatments have reduced the damage - what do I do to prevent further pigment and ageing damage again?

Protect - Use an SPF sun block every day on face, neck, décolleté and backs of hands – the areas that age first which, over time, can lead to skin cancers. Apply last after skincare, before makeup. This is the best antiageing thing you can do for yourself and family. Damage accumulates daily - stop that with the best sun block, and I mean block, not sun screen only! The best ones are ‘broad spectrum’ and contain zinc, blocking UVA and UVB. Our pick - Matis SPF 50 ($77 ) , Joyce Blok SPF 30 and 15+ ($35) and True Solutions (from $61.50) all tested under violet light, best protection. You will still tan, but without the damage.
Q: My IPL and Red Light course has helped reduce the lines around my eyes, but what can I use at home to keep the results?

Eyes - The molecules in a face cream are too large to absorb properly in to the fine skin around the eyes, sit under the skin and may cause bags. Use the best eye cream you can around eyes; we have many to choose from for improving lines, bags, sagging. From $70. Freshen eyes - include an Eye Lift treatment with your facial or lash tint every month. To firm, an eye serum that lifts and plumps gently, visible immediately. Use daily on eye and lip zones, so skin remembers to be firmer ($199).
Q: Which makeup won’t clog my skin, leaving blackheads and bumps?

Makeup - Pure mineral makeup. We stock the best from New Zealand – Bella Vi and Jane Iredale (USA) brush on - swirl, tap and brush! Or Liquid minerals. Both are skincare makeup, fast, safe, easy to create a flawless finish and have SPF 15 and 20 protection - safe enough to be used on a baby as a sun screen. Images therapists makeup experts can show you tips to speed up your morning makeup, then into evening glam, easily. Some bases are water resistant so good for long lasting on those humid days
Q: What do you recommend for my lips ?

Lips - Lip glosses that plump, on their own or over a lipstick, make your teeth look whiter and give your face a touch of colour that says you care, without that made up look on holiday. Keep it in your handbag. Great gift too. ($39.50 - $50.50). For White Smile maintenance, Pure White Teeth strips, kit ($66.50) and whitening pen everyday ($36) - for the car or handbag.
Step 2: Body Q: I’m sick of shaving and prickly regrowth. What else can I do?

Hair - removal by IPL or electrolysis (both permanent reduction), or waxing monthly, use Tendskin after wax, to prevent ingrown hair ($46) or Depileve hair retardant ($10.50) to slow regrowth. By now, your winter IPL and electrolysis treatments have paid off and there’s little to maintain – hair free, freckles, pigment and red veins gone! For those who want this result, plan for next year now!
Q: My fingernail polish chips so soon, how can I have longer lasting polish?

Nails - New semi permanent shellac manicure lasts 2 weeks or more, and a regular monthly pedicure for gorgeous glossy nails and smooth heels. Choose a French style polish or a colour that goes with most of your wardrobe and looks good day and night. Add some diamantes for special occasion sparkle. Like a traditional polish? Quality polish, and touch up fingernails at home every 2nd day for long lasting polish with Orly glossy colour and top coat (all $22.50). More about nails in a future issue.
Q: Now I’m wearing sleeveless tops and shorts I’ve noticed the skin on my arms, legs and feet are dry and flakey with some rough patches. What’s can I do at home to fix this?

Exfoliate all over 2 – 3 times a week. We recommend the Duo Riffi body mitt in the shower, one side for face, makeup removal, 2nd side regular, for body exfoliation. The Riffi strap, for your hard to reach back, good for the guys too. Helps stop a build up of old skin that can cause blocked pores, acne and blackheads on backs and shoulders, so the oil flows instead of blocking. Great for preventing ingrown hair too. These Riffi products live in the shower, and last for years, so are a good investment. $27.50 - $40.
Q: How do I stop this happening again?

Book a Crystal Exfoliation with us ($85) and your therapist can include a Mud Wrap – a facial for the body ($155 for both), or at home, use a body scrub that leaves skin glowing ready for moisturising. Some scrubs leave an oil film automatically, replacing oil that’s missing. We recommend Cuccio or Nume Fiji body sugar scrubs, butters, lotions and oils, ($14.50 to $33.70) Orly, Joyce Blok, and Skin Deep scrubs, creams, lotions and oils ($10 to $36). MD Formulations Face and Body Scrub ($97.50) 250ml.
Q: I still want some colour, but now that I don’t sunbathe, how can I get a tan that doesn’t harm my skin and looks natural?

Do this scrub once a day and moisturise twice a day for 5 – 7 days, and your skin will be ready for tanning. We spray tan in clinic ($41 - $65) or you can apply at home. We recommend at home, Joyce Blok Autobronze, and St Tropez Mousse or Everyday Tan Builder ($40 - $60.30) No shower or water contact for 8 hours, then moisturise daily for a long lasting golden glow. Lasts 7 – 10 days, (sheds with your old skin) then exfoliate, and come in for your next spray tan, or reapply.
With these habits and routines, you will be ready for whatever invitation comes, no matter how busy you are, looking and feeling your best, everyday! Images Therapists offer expert, results driven treatments and welcome your enquiries, offering the best solutions for you. (Prices apply to December 2010)
Dermaplaning and Microdermabrasion – Your Questions Answered...

Q: What is Dermaplaning?

A Paramedical treatment, highly skilled, manual exfoliation of the skin. A special sterile blade is gently stroked across the skin removing the outermost layer of dead skin cells and the fine facial hair often called peach fuzz. It’s painless and, believe it or not, relaxing.
Q: What is microdermabrasion?

Corundum crystals skim the skin’s surface, via a sterile hand piece, removing the outer most layer of dead skin cells and impurities, then vacuumed to remove.
Q: Will my skin look red and blotchy afterwards?

After Microdermabrasion, the skin may be slightly red and dry, similar to a light sunburn. Some skins may experience slight peeling after a few days, which is normal, as loosened skin continues to shed. Your skin will have a smooth, polished feel and be clear and glowing. Because these treatments are non-invasive there is no impact on your daily routines as in more invasive peeling like chemical peels and deep dermabrasion. After Dermaplaning your skin looks and feels incredibly smooth and glowing. Comparing it to your inside arm or a baby’s bottom, isn’t going too far. In fact, both Dermaplaning and Microdermabrasion have been called ‘The Lunchtime Peel’ – back to work without concerns of obvious treatment.
Q: Can all skin types be treated?

Any type of skin, whether it is normal, sensitive, couperose (reddened) or post-acne conditions can be treated effectively.
Q: Do I need any special skin care afterward?

Because your skin is ready for regrowth and regeneration after Dermaplaning or Microdermabrasion, you will need to keep it well hydrated. Your therapist will assess the best hydrating cream or lotion with high levels of antioxidents, for your skin type and condition to continue the best results for you.
Q: I’m outside a lot in my garden and sport. Is there a problem with sunlight?

It is very important to protect your new skin from UV damage with sunscreen, applied after moisturisers and under makeup. Matis SPF 50, Joyce Blok SPF 15 – 30, True Solutions All Day Moisture SPF 30, tinted or untinted., are all gentle on skin, won’t sting and are all broadspectrum. (from $32 - $71 and you can trust. At Images Medispa, we recommend and use Mineral Makeup as well as sunscreens, - Bella Vi Minerals and Jane Iredale, as they are SPF 15 AND 20 and are skincare that’s safe to use even on babies. (from $55).
Q: How many treatments will I need to achieve results?

Dermaplaning and Microdermabrasion are progressive treatments. The optimum results for most procedures are 3 – 5 treatments. Some conditions will require more treatment, while others will respond beautifully with the minimum – the results you are trying to achieve will be your guide.
Q: How often should I have Dermaplaning or Microdermabrasion?

Dermaplaning is a once-a-month treatment that maximises the absorption of medical grade skincare afterwards, so it’s ideal before a peel, Omnilux Light facial or IPL treatments. $95. Microdermabrasion, depending on skin type and `condition`, a minimum of 2 weeks, up to 4 weeks between treatments. $85
Q: Does the hair grow back thicker after Dermaplaning?

Fear not – hair does not grow back thicker or darker. In fact, the reverse can happen. People who have been having Dermaplane on a regular basis, report less facial hair.

Skin Repair - Your Questions Answered....

Q: I had IPL last year for hair removal and am thrilled with the results. Can IPL remove my brown patches and freckles on my face and chest?

Yes. Now is a perfect time to treat these with our Quantum Lumenis Cool Laser Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), because we are not outside in the UV light so much now it’s Autumn. If you’ve been in the sun recently, without UV Sunblock, you will need to wait 5 – 6 weeks to allow any tan on your face and chest to fade before you are able to have IPL treatments.
Q: I’ve been using UV Sunblock everyday, all summer. Do I still have to wait?

As long as you’ve used an spf rating of 30 minumum on the area to treat, you can receive IPL right now. A medical consultation is required and includes a test patch where possible. Consultation is $26 and redeemable on treatments on the day.
Q: Will my brown spots and freckles come back after treatment?

The surface patches will change to a darker colour at treatment, then shed. Any brown patches appearing later are not the same pigmentation. The sun damaged brown patches from the deeper layer migrate to the surface, as the new skin cells and collagen produced below, push the old sun damaged cells to the surface – ready to be shed. With a series of IPL treatments during winter, these will also disappear.
Q: How many treatments will I need?

A minimum of 3 treatments one month apart, then possibly up to 3 more, 6 – 8 weeks apart till gone. Sun block needs to be worn during this time, so new damage doesn’t occur and undo all your good work.
Q: Are there any other benefits for my skin besides removing freckles and brown patches?

There certainly is! If you have broken facial capillaries (red veins) or reddened ‘chicken skin’ on your chest and neck, these conditions respond very well to our Quantum IPL, leaving your skin texture and colour, even and smooth!
Q: Do I need to keep doing IPL to keep the results?

Treating by the best IPL machine, the best results are permanent. New collagen and elastin produced as a result of your treatments, continue up to 18 months after the last IPL as long as you observe the sun safe advice of your IPL Therapist and use recommended skincare –like Vitamin C to fade pigmentation, or potent antioxidents to nourish all those new skin cells in the deeper layers. Combining treatments in a course where each one enhances the action of the other partnered treatment, produce the best long term results. Eg Images Dramatic Results Duo, Illumination Duo, Ultimate Trio or Red Carpet Series to maintain and improve your skin continuously.
Q: Are there any other choices to treat pigments if I can’t have IPL?

Yes, Omnilux Revive Red Light and Vitamin C serum – more on that next time.
Ray of Light to Revive Your Skin – Your Questions Answered...

Q: I’ve got a few too many lines and my skin is dull. Is there any other choice to treat pigments, lines and sagging skin besides IPL?

Yes Omnilux Revive Red Light Therapy. If you want optimum long-lasting results when needles or knives aren’t for you, this is the GO-TO treatment for a skin overhaul. It’s intensive and relaxing. It’s Anti-ageing at it’s best!
Q: What is Omnilux Revive Light Therapy?

Omnilux Revive is a red Light Therapy – it works by beaming skin with a specific wavelength of light to stimulate collagen. The light is completely free from UV harmful rays – and there’s no pain or risk. It is thousands of low-intensity light-emitting diodes (LED), wavelength is exactly 633 nanometers of pure red light which reaches the collagen level deep in the skin. Omnilux is neither a laser nor an IPL, it’s non-invasive, requires no recovery time and is suitable for both men and women.
Q: What is the difference between Omnilux Light, IPL and Laser Therapies?

Omnilux contains NO UVA or UVB rays and differs to other light-source treatments such as IPL and laser, which depend on the use of heat to set of the process of skin-rejuvenation. Omnilux is non invasive and does not generate heat.
Q: What can Omnilux Revive Do?

This Light is particularly effective on sun damaged or ageing skin. A single treatment is a great pick-me-up ($123) or in addition to a specialised skin care treatment ($85). Great when used to accelerate healing from laser, IPL, microdermabrasion, peels and other cosmetic treatments. For enhanced results that naturally plump up fine lines and wrinkles, a course of 9 is recommended.
Q: Why is a course best and how long will it take?

Dr Glen Calderhead, one of the original founders of Omnilux, recommends a course of 10, 20 minute sessions, over 3 – 4 weeks. With one treatment the collagen increase gradually drops, with five, you get to keep the new collagen created. Nine treatments assist with long term firmness of the skin’s ‘mattress’. Calderhead says “By the end of the 3rd week, you will see plumping of skin, removal of fine lines and wrinkles. By the 4th week it’s more noticeable: cells have been activated by light which they build upon. Twelve weeks later the results peak” Similar to how photosynthesis works in plants. Beware any wavelength less than 633 nanometers as this only stimulates surface epidermis and has no benefit to collagen improvement.
Q: Do I need to keep doing Omnilux Light Treatments to keep the results?

New collagen and elastin produced as a result of your course last 10 – 12 months as long as you observe the sun-safe advice of your Beauty Therapist and use recommended skincare- like Vitamin C to fade pigmentation, (Joyce Blok Serum C10, C20 or CEF, $87 - $138), antioxidants and hydrating skincare to nourish all those new skin cells in the deeper layers.
Q: What’s the easiest maintenance all year round?

Maintain the new collagen and new skin cells by adding an Omnilux Light to your regular facial to keep the hydrated plumped results.(Add-On just $85). We recommend Images Medispa Dramatic Results Duo,(microdermabrasion or peel with Light,$180) Ultimate Trio Facial (micro or peel, light with serum infusion$245) or Goddess Red Carpet Series (combination course of all the best treatments $1025) to maintain and improve your skin continuously.( Ask about our easy payment plan for programs taken over 12 months).
Daily use of active skin care and a zinc-based SPF 30+ sunscreen is essential to keep you looking good, feeling great and protect all your new skin cells. Fuel up by drinking plenty of water and eat antioxidant fruit and vegetables to nourish cells, give up habits that cause skin ageing such as smoking, protect skin from excess sun exposure. (prices quoted for July 2011)
Seasonal Changes and Skin Care – Your Questions Answered...

Q: Help! My skin feels tight and dry now this winter and the blotchy pigmentation makes me look unwell. What can I do?

Drier winter air plus more time indoors with heater and air-con contribute to our skin drying out. We recommend a course of peels or microdermabrasion to remove the top layer of dead cells so that your moisturiser can absorb and start working for you. Add a serum under your moisturiser for better hydration that lasts all day – and don’t forget a night cream for oil and antioxidant replacement.
Q: Can you help with the sun damage and dull skin tone?

When you’re fighting old sun damage, ageing or just dryness, no one treatment works best by itself and that’s why we have designed combination therapy so that we can achieve better, longer lasting results. Our Goddess Red Carpet Package combines both IPL and Omnilux, along with peels and microdermabrasion to achieve better results in a very short time. And that’s the Images difference.
Q: I had your Goddess Red Carpet Package last year with good results. Can I do it again this year?

YES of course. The combination of these different therapies is the best maintenance, whether it’s once a year to keep the benefits of your Omnilux or IPL treatments going, or following a course of any individual treatment, peels or micro or lights. Just as going to the gym 2 or 3 times doesn’t make your body fit, it’s the regular visits and year round maintenance that keeps your health and fitness up . So too, your regular beauty maintenance will deliver glowing, healthy skin.
Turn Back Time - Your Questions Answered...

Q: I would like to look more youthful but I’m unsure which treatment will work as there are a lot to choose from. Can you explain?

Appearance Enhancements have definitely improved in the last decade and claims to make us look 10 years younger are true. For best results, most people need a combination of a few of these as there are now plenty of tools in the toolbox – and one single procedure is never going to be the rejuvenating panacea for absolutely everything.
Q: How would injectibles work for me?

While Botox is great at smoothing lines, you wouldn’t use it to replace volume in the face or correct the texture and quality of the skin. Images’ skilled, medically qualified therapist will advise you which injectibles to use, and where, in the face, to get the best youthful plumping and smoothing of lines and hollows.
Q: What about my skin texture?

Professional grade cosmeceutical or superceutical skincare, used every day, will correct the texture and quality of your skin alongside any of these anti-ageing clinic treatments : IPL Rejuvenation Photofacial, Paramedical Peels, Microdermabrasion, Dermaplaning, Oxygen Infusion facials, Omnilux Rejuvenation Light Therapy. Images Beauty Therapists specialise in these treatments and see fabulous results regularly. Priori, DERMed, MdFormulations are some of the cosmeceuticals in Images Medispa tool box.
Q: What should I do at home?

70% of the results are determined by what you use at home, every day, to support the clinic treatments that kick start corrections for healthy skin. Remember, some of the skin concerns you see, happened gradually over time, and will correct with consistent support you give yourself. We advise Cleanse, Correct, Hydrate and Protect – (sun protection that is.)
Q: What clinic treatments do you advise for fast results?

Combined treatments together in an inter-woven progressive course, where each treatment increases the effectiveness of the partner therapies is the ultimate action. Images Medispa has Combination Therapy Packages for the best corrective results – just ask our Therapists.
Q: Can I make payments over six months or more?

Yes! Images Medispa can create a Turn Back Time Program to help you look as young as you feel. We assess your skin’s need and create the solution of skincare and treatment combinations that have proven to work, with an easy payment plan over 6 - 12 months to suit your budget while you are enjoying the results. Just make a time to talk to one of our Therapists.

Q: What should I do at home?

70% of the results are determined by what you use at home, every day, to support the clinic treatments that kick start corrections for healthy skin. Remember, some of the skin concerns you see, happened gradually over time, and will correct with consistent support you give yourself. We advise cleanse, correct, hydrate and protect - (sun protection that is)
Q: What clinic treatments do you advise for fast results?

Combined treatments together in an inter-woven progressive course, where each treatment increases the effectiveness of the partner therapies, is the ultimate action. Images Medispa has combination therapy packages for the best corrective results - just ask our therapists
Q: Can I make payments over six months or more?

Yes! We assess your skins needs and create a solution of skincare and treatment combinations with an easy payment plan over 6-12 months to suit your budget while you are enjoying the results. Just make a time to talk to one of our therapists.
